  • Although we strive to keep everything updated, please check with your state EMS Representative for the most current re-certification information.

  • South Dakota requires National Registry certification for entry into the state EMS System.

  • For license renewal, licensees have the option to use the national or state recertification.

  • Certification Expirations:

    • EMR certifications expire September 30th every two (2) years
    • EMT certifications expire March 31st every two (2) years
    • EMT-I85, EMT-I99 and Paramedic certifications expire March 31st every two (2) years
